- This is how to make yourself indispensable
This is how to make yourself indispensable
Or how value creation and relationships will help you move ahead in life

You make yourself indispensable by creating tremendous value for the people around you
You make yourself indispensable by making your absence painful to those around you
As I shared in my last newsletter, business is all about relationships. It is your job to render yourself indispensable in those relationships
With relationships, you will:
Get promotions
Close more sales
Find your next job
Find your new partner
Raise your next round
Build your next product
Relationships will reduce uncertainty and build resilience in your business and in your life
Relationships are the ultimate hack
"That's great, Jean, but how do I actually build relationships?"
Building relationships is basically making sure that you create VALUE for the person in front of you
How do you do that?
Cater to his/her needs
There are many types of needs:
Physical: having enough food, water and money to live, safety from natural elements
Emotional: feeling valued, recognized, safe, loved, heard
Business: delivering projects on time, communicating with other teams, reaching your goals, etc
The only way to cater to those needs is to understand them
Again: how do you that?
You ask.
Better: you listen.
Remember, it's never about you or your product
It's about the person in front of you
What do they love?
What do they need?
What are they missing?
What are their challenges?
What keeps them awake at night?
Keep them talking. Keep listening
Don't forget to ask: how can you help? What do they need? How can you contribute?
Do you know a good book? Do you know the right specialist/lawyer/mentor who can help? Can you make the right connection?
That's exactly what we do with the entrepreneurs we coach at StartLife: pushing them to build relationships with their customers target to ensure they're actually solving their problems and creating value.
No value = no Customers
No customers = no money
No money = no business
In short, to become indispensable:
👉 Listen to the person in front of you
👉 Understand what his/her problems
👉 Ask you can contribute
👉 Build relationships
👉 Create Value
Ask ➡️ Listen ➡️ Contribute
Do that with key people and you will become indispensable
Tell me how it goes! And if you need, I'm here to help.
Jean
